SMART Bus tour launches in Netherlands on 28 October 2019
Creator of the pedagogical content and lead researcher, Insight is partnering Huawei, Forum Europe and event organiser LEF this semester to implement a SMART Bus that is visiting schools across Belgium and The Netherlands. A magician is animating the sessions, making this a fun way for 11-14 years to hone their skills as responsible digital citizens.
Council of Europe recommendations to member states on child rights
The Council of Europe has just published a press release on Recommendations made to member States on children’s rights in the digital environment. They align closely to the rights and expectations more than 4000 young people have expressed in the recent Insight publication, "GDPR - young Europeans have their say"
Young Europeans "have their say" on GDPR in a scrap book
Through memes, posters, mind-maps and quotes, young Europeans share their thoughts on privacy, online rights & responsibilities, parents, selfies, drones... and on the EU's General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) requirement for 16-year olds* to get parental consent before their personal data can be processed! *Note: a few countries have legislated to lower this age to 13, 14 or 15.
16 May: Facebook released today its Preliminary Report on Community Standards Enforcement
The Report breaks down violations by category: graphic violence, adult nudity and sexual activity, terrorist propaganda (ISIS, al-Qaeda and affiliates), hate speech, spam and fake accounts. See also Larry Magid's interesting article on the report.
